Not Sure Which Console HDMI Port Model You Have?
Here's how to tell them apart.
Quickest way: Check the model label on the back of your console — it tells you the exact model name.
Signs Your HDMI Port Is Broken
If you're experiencing any of these, bring it in.
No picture on TV
Console turns on (you hear the startup sound) but the TV shows "No Signal"? The HDMI port is almost certainly damaged.
Flickering display
Picture flickers, cuts out, or shows lines? Could be bent HDMI pins making poor contact.
Cable won't stay in
HDMI cable feels loose or falls out? The port is physically damaged and needs replacement.
Bent or broken pins
Look inside the port with a torch — if pins are bent, pushed in, or missing, the port needs replacing.
No signal when cold
Display works after warming up but not when first turned on? The solder joints may be cracked — needs reflowing or port replacement.
White light but no display
PS5 shows a white power light but no picture? Classic HDMI port failure symptom.
HDMI Port Repair — What You Need to Know
The HDMI port is the most commonly repaired part on games consoles. The port is directly on the motherboard, and the pins are fragile. A single tug on the cable can bend or break them.
We replace the entire HDMI port with a new one, which involves precision soldering. This is a permanent fix — much better than trying to bend pins back, which often breaks them off completely.
Tip: Always use a high-quality HDMI cable and make sure it's fully inserted. Avoid placing the console where the cable can be tripped over.
What Happens During the Repair
- 1. Free inspection — we confirm the HDMI port is the issue (not the cable or TV)
- 2. Open the console — we access the motherboard
- 3. Desolder old port — carefully remove the damaged HDMI port
- 4. Solder new port — install a brand new HDMI port
- 5. Test — we test display output at 4K/60Hz and 1080p
Takes 1–2 days. 12-month warranty included.
HDMI Port Questions
Everything you need to know.
HDMI port replacement costs £65 for PS4 and Xbox One, £70 for Xbox One X, £75 for PS5/PS5 Slim and Xbox Series S, £80 for PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X.
Common signs: no picture on the TV, flickering display, no signal message, bent or broken pins visible in the port, or the HDMI cable won't stay plugged in securely.
The most common cause is the HDMI cable being pulled or tripped over while plugged in, which bends the pins inside the port. Other causes: forcing the cable in wrong, dust buildup, or general wear.
HDMI port replacement typically takes 1–2 days. The old port needs to be carefully desoldered and the new one soldered on, then fully tested.
Sometimes bent pins can be carefully straightened, but it's usually better to replace the whole port. Attempting to bend pins back often breaks them off completely.
Yes, all HDMI port repairs come with a 12-month warranty covering the part and workmanship.
