Signs You Need More RAM

If any of these sound familiar, a RAM upgrade will help.

Freezes With Lots of Tabs

You've got 20 Chrome tabs open and the whole computer grinds to a halt. More RAM means it can handle them all without breaking a sweat.

Slow When Switching Apps

Alt-tabbing between Word and Excel takes ages? The computer is swapping memory to disk. More RAM eliminates that delay.

Struggles With Big Files

Editing photos in Photoshop or working with large spreadsheets? These tasks eat RAM. Going from 8GB to 16GB or 32GB makes them run smoothly.

High Memory Usage

Open Task Manager and see memory at 80%+ with nothing running? That's Windows fighting for resources. More RAM gives it room to breathe.

Questions About RAM Upgrades

If your computer freezes when you have lots of browser tabs open, slows down when switching between programs, or shows high memory usage in Task Manager, you probably need more RAM. Bring it in and we'll check what you've got and what it can take.

For basic web browsing and email, 8GB is fine. For most people doing a bit of everything, 16GB is the sweet spot. If you do photo editing, video work, or heavy multitasking, 32GB makes a real difference. We'll advise based on what you actually use your computer for.

Most desktop PCs can be upgraded easily. Many laptops can too, but some ultra-thin models have RAM soldered to the motherboard. We'll check your specific model first and tell you before you pay anything.

It's one of the quickest jobs we do. About 15 minutes to install the new memory and run a quick test to make sure it's working properly. Often done while you wait.

If your computer has a mechanical hard drive, the SSD will make a bigger difference overall. But if you already have an SSD and still get slowdowns with lots of programs open, more RAM is the answer. We do both and can advise which makes more sense for your situation.
